Knud Willemoes Jørgensen (1917-2001)

Knud Willemoes Jørgensen was a hotel owner and businessman in Skive.

Willemoes was educated at the Pension Insurance Institute in Copenhagen, and got his first connection to Jutland after he was trained as an officer in the artillery and transferred to Aarhus. Here he changed careers and joined the Geodetic Institute, a predecessor to the Danish Mapping and Cadastral Agency. His work there took him to Skive and Hotel Royal. Here he fell in love with the owners’ youngest daughter Gurli, whom he later married.

He started working at the hotel first as an inspector in 1943, later as a tenant in 1954, and finally as owner in 1964.

In addition to the hotel, Willemoes held positions of trust as chairman of the hotel host association’s Jutland branch, Skive Restauratør Forening and Skive Fjernvarme. He was also a board member of Skive Trav and Skive Tourist Association.
