Peder Christian Kirkegaard (1956-)

Peder Christian Kirkegaard is Mayor of Skive for Venstre, first elected to the post in 2014.

Kirkegaard was born in 1956 and grew up in Hald, on the family farm. In 1977 Kirkegaard graduated as a farmer from Asmildkloster Agricultural College.

In addition to working for the citizens of the municipality, Kirkegaard is a member of a number of boards and boards of representatives, including Danish Library Central, Salling Bank and TV-Midt/Vest.

In his spare time, Kirkegaard is interested in sports and is an honorary member of the local Ørslevkloster Sports Association.

Politics and politics

Kirkegaard was first elected to Skive City Council in 1985. Kirkegaard became 1st Deputy Mayor in 1994 and after Flemming Eskildsen chose to retire, Kirkegaard became the Liberal Party’s leading candidate and was elected Mayor of Skive in 2014, as the first fjandbo. Kirkegaard has had an extended sick leave of six months.

Kirkegaard’s key issues have been and are two major projects. BigBlue, an urban renewal project to open up and beautify the city of Skive around Karup Å. GreenLab, a project that supports companies working for the green transition of Denmark by securing energy storage technology etc.
