Assembly halls in Skiveegnen

The construction of the community halls in Skiveegnen was inspired by the community hall at Galtrup Folk High School on Mors, which was founded by the ideas behind the Grundtvigian folk high schools and shooting and gymnastics associations. The first assembly hall in Skiveegnen was built in 1879 in Ramsing and several more followed.

Ramsing Assembly Halls

The first community hall in Ramsing was built in 1879 and was named Sydsallings Forsamlingshus. The assembly hall was octagonal in shape and functioned until 1935, when it was demolished and a new assembly hall began to be built.

Lem Assembly Halls

In 1888, the plans and financing were in place to begin construction of the new Lem Forsamlingshus, which would be used for many different activities such as lectures, readings, gymnastics and handicrafts. The early 1900s saw a major development in Lem Kirkeby, where a group of residents built another village hall in 1905.

Rødding Assembly Halls

The first village hall in Rødding was inaugurated in late 1896 and was built next to the dairy. As time went by, the initiative was taken to build a new village hall, which was inaugurated in 1928, where the ownership group now consisted of shareholders. In 1931, Rødding Parish Council bought the village hall.

Vejby Village Hall

In 1898, the residents of Vejby built Vejby Forsamlingshus as a partnership and if the partners did not pay their due contributions, they were excluded. The community center was inaugurated in 1899 and was to be used for gymnastics, small lecture meetings and handicrafts.

Krejbjerg Assembly Halls

The first community hall in Krejbjerg was built in 1902 and the money for the construction was raised by issuing cooperative certificates, which were later redeemed by Krejbjerg Municipality. The activity in the meeting house, including lectures, was great and was closely linked to Krejbjerg Free School.

Oddense-Otting Assembly Halls

Oddense-Otting Assembly Hall was inaugurated in 1904 and was intended to serve as an assembly and gymnastics center. After a few years, the house became leaky and was in generally poor condition, so in 1923 the house was removed and a new one was built for all associations to use. This assembly hall was then renovated in 1950.

Balling-Volling Assembly Hall

Preparations for the future Balling-Volling community hall began in 1905 and was to serve as a gathering place for the people of Balling-Volling Municipality. Activities in the meeting house could include meetings, lectures, readings, singing, sports and parties, which should be of such a nature that Christian people could be happy and participate.

Lihme Assembly Halls

The residents of Lihme also wanted their own village hall and this became a reality in 1906. The community hall was initially intended to be culturally supportive, especially with the folk high school spirit in mind, and at the inauguration, the chairman of the building committee said “The house we have built here is not only for pleasure, but also for seriousness and work”.
