SkiveWiki
SkiveWiki is a digital encyclopedia with articles on historical topics and other local topics throughout Skive Municipality. The idea for SkiveWiki was developed by Museum Salling’s archives.
The background
The launch of SkiveWiki took place in 2022. With SkiveWiki, the archives want to mark Skive’s 700th anniversary as a market town in 2026. By then, the number of articles will have reached a certain size. However, the expansion of SkiveWiki with new articles is an ongoing process that has no end date. So even after 2026, the work will continue.
Museum Salling’s archives consist of:
- Skive City Archive.
- Fur Local Archive.
- Sallingsund Local Archive.
- Spøttrup Local Archive.
- Sundsøre Local Archive.
Topics and geography
Over the years, the archives have summarized texts and notes and answered countless inquiries from citizens about local history topics. These are used as a starting point for the formulation of articles in SkiveWiki. In addition, the museum’s other subject areas will contribute articles on archaeology, art and nature. With this as a starting point, SkiveWiki is structured around a number of categories that the individual articles can be linked to.
Geographically, SkiveWiki covers Skive Municipality and Skive city’s natural catchment area. This means Skive city and market town, Fur, Salling, Estvad-Rønbjerg (in Ginding Herred) and Fjends (the northern part of which is in Skive Municipality).
Who can contribute?
The site is built according to the wiki principle. Initially, the articles will be written by museum and archive staff. But at a later stage, it will be opened up to anyone with an interest in contributing knowledge about local history to register as a user. However, all added articles, comments and images will be continuously evaluated by the archives.
Reservations and disclaimers
As SkiveWiki will eventually develop into a user-driven site, Museum Salling’s archives do not assume responsibility for the accuracy of the content of articles that the archives have not written themselves. SkiveWiki reserves the right to change, edit, rename or delete articles and add or delete images in articles.
Copyrights
Articles posted on SkiveWiki are considered public domain. This means that the author accepts that the articles can be reworked and expanded with additional content by both the archives and other users.
Text and images protected by copyright may not be posted on SkiveWiki. However, quotes of limited length are permitted.
Processing of personal information
SkiveWiki does not use or disclose information that users have provided about themselves.
