Carsten Nørgaard (194?-1993)

Carsten Nørgaard was a Social Democratic politician and mayor of Sundsøre Municipality 1986-1990.

Nørgaard was born in Holstebro and attended Struer Gymnasium. His first connection to Skive came after he attended Skive Seminarium. After graduating as a teacher, Nørgaard trained as a teacher for hearing and visually impaired children. Nørgaard married Karen and moved to Roslev in 1976; the family later moved to Jebjerg.

Nørgaard was active in many different political associations, within the school and teacher system and within the Red Cross. Nørgaard joined the municipal council in Sundsøre for the Social Democrats in the 1985 election and was elected mayor of the municipality. As mayor, he spearheaded the construction of new housing and industry, as well as a wastewater treatment project to improve the environment in the Limfjord. In the subsequent election, Nørgård was not re-elected, but continued as deputy mayor.

After stepping down as mayor, Nørgaard was elected to a top position in the Danish Library Service, and was perhaps on his way to bigger roles in Danish politics.

Nørgaard never got to be mayor again because he died after a long illness in 1993 at the age of 47.
