Niels Aage Bjerre was principal of Skive Handelsskole in the years 1967-1986.
Bjerre was born in 1926 in Nibe. During the occupation, Bjerre was part of the resistance movement “Studenternes Efterretningstjeneste” in Ranum during the occupation, in 1944 he was arrested by the Germans and put in the Frøslev camp.
Bjerre graduated as a commercial teacher in 1956. He was employed at Randers Handelsskole from 1952 as an hourly teacher, in 1958 the position became permanent.
In 1967, Bjerre moved to Skive after he was appointed principal of Skive Handelsskole. Under Bjerre’s leadership, Skive Handelsskole got its new premises in Egeris.
Bjerre worked hard to ensure that the mentally disabled could get an education, so at Bjerre’s urging, the school admitted many for rehabilitation, primarily from Nørgaards Højskole.
In addition to focusing on taking care of the mentally weak who were falling out of society, Bjerre worked to secure places for students after graduation, especially female students who, in his opinion, experienced discrimination from the business community.
He stopped as principal of Skive Handelsskole in 1986, where he was succeeded by Finn Christiansen.
In 1950, Bjerre married his childhood friend Inge. He left behind 4 children.
