Anders Mogensen was a master painter and artist in Skive, where he painted many pictures of local subjects.
Born in Brændstrup in Southern Jutland, he moved to Tastum in Fjends at the age of 9 and after a short time to Skive city.
Mogensen was apprenticed to master painter Olaf Olsen and graduated after 4½ years in 1901, after which he traveled in Germany and Switzerland for two years. After a stay in Essen, Mogensen was captivated by art.
In 1906 Mogensen opened his own shop in Skive, after working in Holstebro for a short time.
In Skive, he participated in city life in several ways. As a teacher at Skive Technical School and as a city council member for the Conservative People’s Party.
Mogensen’s painterly and artistic work is highly appreciated in the city, where he unfolds in addition to pictures of the city, by painting the Skive Theater curtain around 1926/28, and by painting scenery etc. for the theater.
Mogensen died in 1969, leaving behind his wife Anna Mogensen.
