Asylum street

Asylgade is named after Apoteker Norgaard’s Children’s Asylum. The street was built in 1868 when Skive’s marketplace was moved to the square by Aakjærskolen. The school was designed by master builder Lars Jensen. When it was built, it was a very modern school with large, bright rooms.

For a number of years, Kvickly was located in Asylgade. In 1993, the building came to house Skive Library and Skive City Archives. After the library moved in 2007, a music school was established in the building.
