Resenvej 1

Resenvej 1 was designed by painter Nikolaj Mølgaard Andersen (1895-1979) and built in 1926 as a residence for himself and his wife Dagmar. Drawings of the house show that there was a studio on the first floor, which reflects Mølgaard Andersen’s profession.

The house is built as a timber-framed villa, but according to the BBR register, the walls in the panels are foundation walls and not timber-framed. This is probably because building regulations from the end of the 19th century restricted the use of clay-clad boards.

The architectural expression can be described as national romanticism and was seen in the first 20-30 years of the 20th century in several residential neighborhoods. It is said that there was prestige in building with half-timbered facades, as it was relatively expensive. Resenvej 1 is thus a late example of a house with a half-timbered expression.

In 1946, local architect and later Social Democratic Housing Minister Ove Hove designed a possible extension of the house to the west. However, it does not seem to have been realized.

His son Find Mølgaard Andersen (1934-2015), who like his father was also a painter, lived in the house after his parents’ death.

The house was demolished in February 2023 after some debate about its possible preservation.
