Rønbjerg Dairy
The groundwork for a dairy in Rønbjerg was done in 1908, when it was announced in Skive Folkeblad on June 12 that a plot of land near the station had been purchased for the purpose of building a dairy. The price for the plot was 400 kroner. Shortly afterwards, on June 30, people were sought to carry out the work.
The owner during this first period was Rasmus Sørensen, who ran the dairy as a conventional, private dairy. Alongside this work, he also extracted and sold peat.
Rasmus Sørensen died on December 14, 1923, and as his children were not old enough to take over, despite one son’s work at the dairy, the inventory was auctioned off and the dairy put up for sale in early 1924.
The son, Sigurd Laurids Sørensen, later played a major role in the history of the later ice cream dairy, Rønbjerg Is.
