From June 1874-June 1875, he can be found in Skive Avis, and
he had a studio on Skovstien (Torvegade behind the inn
in Skive), and in 1875 he got a “photographic carriage” with a
landscape apparatus for prospects and group photography.

Son of Pastor Conrad Albert Rafn and 1st wife, b. Gjedde. G.m. Severine Rafn, s.d. Should have studied, but instead took the preliminary exam and then went into the agricultural service. Co-founder of the Botanical Association, 1840. 1846 student at Haridslund (as breeding manager of a farm near Helsingør). Volunteer in 1848 and 1849. In 1848 studied briefly at the Polytechnic Institute. 1850-1854 teacher of mathematics and surveying at Skaarupgaard.
Later photographer. Ann. in Dannevirke 6.9.1863ff: “Fotografisk Atelier paa Gram. I, the undersigned, am at liberty to announce that I have arrived here, and recommend myself to the residents of the area to take portraits on paper. My studio is at Herrr. Gjæstgiver Schmidt. Gram on August 4, 1863 A. Rafn. Photographer from Aarhuus”. Active in Haderslev 1867. Ann. in Holstebro Avis 9.7.1872: “Photographer Rafn from Herning has come to Struer and takes portraits daily at the cheapest prices. Prospects in large format are taken on order. My lodging is with Mr. Gjæstgiver Sand”.
In Skive he calls himself around 1874 on the business card:
Forstcandidat A. G. Gjede-Rafn Fotog: Atelier. However, he is not mentioned in C. S. de Roepstorff: Meddelelser om danske Forstkandidater 1798-1897, Kbh. 1898. 3.5.1876 ann. in Aarh. Stiftstid: The honored property owners in Aarhuus and surroundings, who wish to have their properties photographed this spring, are hereby informed that I undertake to make both large and small photographs of farms, buildings, villas, graves, etc. Letters to me should be deposited at the Postcontoiret post restante. A. Rafn. Landscape photographer (living at Riis Skov).
