Petrus Sixtus Bahner was postmaster in Skive 1875-1890, after which he was dismissed and convicted by the court in Skive for personal gain.
Bahner was born in Thisted and in 1859 he graduated in law.
After graduating, Bahner became a second lieutenant and then a lieutenant in the Hussars until his retirement in 1878. After his time in the army, Bahner was stationmaster in Brønderslev until he was employed by the post and telegraph service in Skive in 1875.
He worked in Skive until 1890 when errors were found in his accounts. He was first suspended and then convicted in court. He was deprived of the right to post office, to pay back 6000 kr. and one year’s reformatory. In an article in Horsens Arbeiderblad, general dislike was expressed towards Bahner, who was described as behaving in a gloating and reckless manner.
Bahner died in Copenhagen in 1902.
