Andreas Espersen Kæmpegaard was a doctor in Skive 1897-1922.
Kæmpegaard was born at Lem Kæmpegård (Sønder Lemvej 10). On December 9, 1897, Kæmpegaard settled as a doctor in Skive on Adelgade. The clinic was primarily for members of the health insurance fund.
Kæmpegaard was politically involved in the Radical Liberal Party, but lost faith that anything could be accomplished that way. However, Kæmpegaard continued to work for the weak in society and was for a time chairman of “Arbejdet Adler”, an organization that worked to find work for the unemployed and weak.
Married to city councilor Mary Kæmpegaard. The couple had a foster daughter who died at the age of 7 during a visit to Jenle. The foster daughter Edith Kæmpegaard had a verse written about her by Jeppe Aakjær who experienced the death.
Later, the couple had another girl Astrid Kæmpegaard living with them, they had been the father at Astrid’s birth, but the exact relationship is unknown.
